It is proving to be a very busy summer and I am taking full advantage of the wonderful weather. The accompanying photo is of an event I was involved with that took place early in July. A BIG THANK YOU to the Langstone-Wring Method™ trained reflexologists; Tanya Grafton – Bridport, Penny Jelfs – Weymouth, Jane Cruickshank – Dorchester and Jessie Fortune – Weymouth who supported the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust “Swingtime in Dorchester Borough Gardens” by turning up on Sunday 7th July and offering members of the public reflexology taster sessions for donations towards Dorchester County Hospital re-vamp of the Chemotherapy Department. We raised £159.79. The overall total raised was £2,448.79.
Later in the month I completed the two-day College of Medicine Foundation Course An introduction to integrated health and care. This was a course for doctors, student doctors and allied health care professionals, however I was one of only four practitioners from the world of complementary medicine that attended. Including myself there was a medical herbalist, clinical hypnotherapist and an aromatherapist.
The course presenters included Professor David Peters, Professor of Integrated Healthcare University of Westminster. Chair of BHMA and editor-in-chief of the journal of Holistic Healthcare. Therapeutic Bodywork – Osteopathy and Mind-Body Medicine (resilience, trauma, emotions and neurobiology ) Dr Mike Cummings, Acupuncture Medical director of the British Medical Acupuncture Society. Dr Elizabeth Thompson, Homoeopath and CEO of National Centre for Integrative Medicine. Dr Catherine Zollman, Medical Director Penny Brohn UK. Simon Mills, Medical Herbalist. Heather Richards, Nutrition Lead Food Programme 2019 College of Medicine. Trevor Hoskisson, Harley Street Hypnotherapist. Dr Marion Steiner, Southmead and Henbury Family Practice, Bristol CCG Self-Care and Social Prescribing Lead. Mr Michael Dooley FRCOG Women’s Health. This amazing array of inspirational professionals all came together with the common aim of promoting an integrated approach to the future delivery of healthcare.
The setting for this course could not have been more appropriate. Penny Brohn UK Chapel Pill Lane Bristol www.pennybrohn.org.uk. I stayed in a lovely room overlooking the beautiful gardens fully absorbed in peace and tranquillity………. no television what bliss!!!!!
